Pikea work with project partners Sector39 to deliver a range of courses on practical crafts and woodland skills.

Our next course is to be held at Farm2Grow, in the beautiful Churnet Valley, North Staffs and is a three day yurt making course.

Churnet Valley

  • Introduction to working with green wood and handtools.
  • Experience steam bending, learn how to use and maintain handtools such as a draw knife and spokshave, brace and bits, chisel, plane and more
  • Split and join green wood, wood rivet and burning mortice. Use a traditional shaving horse and other traditional wood craft tools.
  • Select and prepare green poles and all around experience of the skills and tools used in green wood work.
  • Opportunity to make and keep your own Yurt wheel
  • Learn all the skills required to finish it
  • Full detailed instructions and on going support to complete your own low impact structure

August 6th 7th 8th, price £210 per person, includes making and keeping your own Yurt wheel**/ camping/ parking/ lunches and materials.

** £155 per person not keeping a wheel.
